Wonderful, illustrated diary in color and b/w sketches done by a middle-class Victorian woman. It the life of Maud Berkeley and her family at large with her very fine art detailing the everyday part. What a wonderful eye for costume she has and this would be a very valuable book for costumers--she has caught the nuance and color of the clothing of her day . If you saw the PBS 1900 House and liked it, you will definitely enjoy this--it's not the kitchen duties, but everything else. She was born 1859 and died 1949 having witnessed an amazing amount of change in our world. Not quite the beginning of steam shipping to jet airplanes. Oversized. Near New/Near New.
