The story of the British children who, between 1870 and the depression of the 1930s, travelled to make a new life in Canada - many of them through the endeavours of Dr Barnardo. Most of the "home children" were placed with farm families to work in the fields, playing a part in opening the land for the new nation. Their stories recount in vivid and poignant details their experiences of being uprooted and sent to live among strangers. Very Good/Very Good.
