In about fine condition. Overall an excellent copy. ~ First edition. Rare. The biography of the Jesuit priest Jean de Britto who worked in India as a missionary for 25 years before he was martyred on 4 February, 1693. The biography elaborately recounts his evangelical work among the Indians, but also records his observations on their life-style, way of dress, religion and social and political structure. Among the areas where he worked and those he visited were Ceylon, Madras, and Malabar. B-2 .
