Full-leather binding with detailed gilt decorations on all aspects, wide raised bands, five compartments, gilt edge (which have flaked), marbled endpapers. Some rubbing and dulling at the extremities, foxing on interior pages. Nineteenth-century bookplate. Eighty-one engravings over the two volumes are present with the original tissue guards. Volume one is 162 text pages + plates. However, volume two is only 52 text pages + plates. While there is direct sign that later text pages have been removed from volume two, it is certain since page 52 ends in mid-sentence.
