Title: Baltimore and the 19th of April, 1861: A Study of the War
Description: Baltimore, N. Murray, Publication Agent, Johns Hopkins University, 1887. First Edition. 0 pp. Hardcover. Near fine in original dark green cloth-covered boards with light rubbing on the rear panel. This is a presentation copy inscribed by Brown to his brother Robert "with his brother's best love" and dated March 17, 1887. When Brown was inscribing the book, he did so on the rear blank page. Brown was the Mayor of Baltimore during 1861 and serving as the first assassination attempt was made on Abraham Lincoln as he passed through Baltimore on his way to the inauguration. As this book was published, he was the Chief Judge of the Supreme Bench of Baltimore. This book was issued as "Extra Volume III" in the series, Johns Hopkins University Studies in Historical and Political Science. Near Fine/Issued without dust jacket.
