Disbound, complete and original issue with light wear to spine, remarkably nearly new appearance. "What Will He Do With It?" (Chps. 17 - 19) on pp. 458-459. Humorous full-page illustration, "Present Style of Storming the Palace When Queen Victgoria Holds a Drawing-Room" (p. 460). Cover article, "Travel Notes in Bible Lands, No. VI" with illustrations of Hebron and "Pilgrims Bathing in the Jordan." Interesting article, "Outbreak in India," on the forces revolting against the British--the Sikhs, Afghans, Sepoys, and Santhals (p. 450). Also, article on "Douglas Jerrold, Editor and Satirist" who died on June 8, 1857 with portrait of the man (pp. 453-454) and the same for William L. Marcy, long-time governor of Massachusetts (p. 461). Also of note, "Prince Albert Promoted to Be His Wife's Husband" (p. 455) about the Queen granting him the title of "Prince Consort." Two-page illustrated article on "The Siamese--the Franks of Asia" or aquariums (pp. 456-457). Of special curiosity is an article on "Drawing-Room Fish-Ponds" with 4 large and detailed illustrations.
