Book condition : very good. - The Frankfurter Parliament or Frankfurt National Assembly was the first freely elected parliament, elected on May, 1st 1848, for all of Germany. In March 1848, after the German March Revolution, the Parliament or Bundestag of the German Confederation passed an election law, that allowed the German people to elect a National German Assembly. Its main task was to draft a constitution for the whole of Germany. Therefore the 812 members of the Frankfurt National Assembly gathered in the Paulskirche at Frankfurt am Main from May, 18th 1848 to May, 31th 1849. The results of the long and controverial debates were published in the Reichs-Gesetz-Blatt. In Part 8 (p. 49-60) the 'Gesetz betreffend die Grundrechte des deutschen Volks' and in Part 16 (p. 101-147) the 'Frankfurt Constitution', or 'Verfassung des Deutschen Reiches' of March 28th, 1849 is published. In this constitution the main demands of the liberal and nationalist movements of the Vormärz were fullfilled, and a foundation of basic and civil rights was provided. In june 1849 the old order and the German Confederation was restored, together with its legislation.
