Description: N. Carpenter, 29 Goswell Terrace, Goswell Road, c. 1810. Dissected wooden jigsaw puzzle with 11 hand coloured lithographic illustrations 235 x 280 mm., together with the hand coloured key sheet to the puzzle. Contained in the original mahogany box with original hand coloured engraved label using a different illustration to any used on the puzzle itself. A couple of the lugs are missing and two pieces have been extensively restored. The key sheet is partially laid down and is extensively repaired and restored. The tea here illustrated is entirely of Chinese origin, the British Empire's main source of tea until the introduction to India in the early 1820s. No other example traced.
