Description: 1842. Bifolium, printed 1st and last pages only, 350 x 235 mm. embossed thick paper. The original Latin inscription on the last page with English translation to the first. The Royal Exchange was founded by Sir Thomas Gresham in the 16th century and twice previously destroyed by fire> this commemorated the current building which until relatively recently was occupied by Lloyds Insurance market. It is now a Fortnum & Mason's, luxury shops and offices. Traditionally Royal proclamations, such as the dissolution of Parliament and royal coronations, are read out on its steps.
