Description: Hinckley, Leicestershire: W. Edwards, Master of the Academy and Teacher of Various Hands, September 29th. 1812. Large single sheet, 430 x 330 mm. a little worn and laid down on thin card. A type specimen using William Browne's poem 'Behold O God', his only devotional poem, which was conceived as a complex series of acrostics. The poem exists in as many as seven original manuscripts, not all using this same arrangement, and is generally believed to have been first published in the Lee Priory Press edition of his Original Poems in 1815, although various anonymous versions in Latin had appeared previously.
