Description: Chapman's Circus, 1933. Bifolium, 205 x 135 mm. on coloured paper. A 'proper' circus with horses, bears and polar bears, elephants, trapeze artists, performing lions and clowns. George Chapman founded the circus in the early 1928, but prior to that he was a dealer in animals and in 1934 helped to establish Belfast Zoo. When he died in 1935, his sister Ada took over and ran it until WW2.
