Description: Ipswich: Printed for the author by S.H, Cowell, 1890. Folio. pp. title page, list of illustrations, subscribers list [81 names], 8 [descriptive text], 13 plates. The frontispiece in the list of plates is the cover illustration. Cloth backed printed boards a little worn and stained, gutta percha binding perished, so loose within the covers. John Shewell Corder [1856 - 1922] was an architect and illustrator who spent most of his life in Ipswich, most of his commissions were in Suffolk. Wooden corner posts were decorative carved supports in buildings built from as early as Tudor times, few survive and a number of those illustrated here are now lost. Rare, only 4 locations listed on the Library Hub, none in international institutions.
