Title: The Quantity of Malt Consumed by the Undermentioned Brewers of London and Its Vicinity, from 10th October, 1831, to 10th October, 1837.
Description: R. Alford, printer, 1837. Broadside, 460 x 370 mm. left margin defective with no loss of text. This item may have at some time been mounted and will bear traces on the reverse of adhesive or removal of mounts. Lists about 170 brewers very few of which are recognisable today. The consumption varied from over 100,000 quarters for Barclay and Co., down to a mere 44 quarters for Price. A quarter being a measure of barley equivalent to about 448 pounds. Also included is a historical list of prices for hops from 1729 - 1818, growth of hop duty from 1836 - 7, and the number of acres of hops under cultivation in various areas of the country.
