Title: Optician and Mathematical Instrument Maker, (Formerly of Cornhill), has removed to 38 Tavistock Street, Covent Garden.
Description: [December, 1816. pencil note] 4 page catalogue, 225 x 140 mm. old stab marks. This item may have at some time been mounted and will bear traces on the reverse of adhesive or removal of mounts. Charles Blunt started in the trade with his father Thomas Blunt, but struck out on his own in about 1811, moving to Tavistock Street shortly afterwards. He filed for bankruptcy in 1818 and no further trace of him could be traced. This short catalogue, "List of New and Improved Mathematical, Philosophical, and Optical Instruments" includes spectacles, superior opera glasses, telescopes and microscopes and "An Improved Magic Lantern, which is also a Complete Night Microscope, with which Insects, and all the usual Microscopic Subjects are exhibited in the brilliant and interesting manner of the Solar Microscope with New and Superior Painting."
