Dr Rayner died in 1891, after which the lease of the establishment was taken by Dr John Campbell Fergusson> this brochure would appear to be from just after the transition with Fergusson's name over-stamped in several places. Hydropathy, or water cure, was a popular cure all in Victorian Britain, based around, not only the benefits of certain spa waters, but also fresh air, exercise and a sensible diet.
