Description: G. Greatback, engraver, after M.Scott, c. 1840. Steel engraving, 130 x 200 mm. This item may have at some time been mounted and will bear traces on the reverse of adhesive or removal of mounts. The asylum at Oulton was a relocation of the Spring Vale asylum and ran from 1838 to 1853, since when it has been occupied by Benedictine nuns.
