Description: Maclure & Macdonald, lithographers, Tuesday, 5th August, 1879. Card, 145 x 200 mm. This item may have at some time been mounted and will bear traces on the reverse of adhesive or removal of mounts. The Blind Asylum was founded in 1804 and this new building, designed by William Landless, completed in 1881 at a cost of £20,000. In 1934, the adjacent Glasgow Royal Infirmary purchased it for use as an outpatients department. Most of the building has since been demolished but the tower end is now a suite of serviced offices and a bistro to the ground floor.
