Description: 11th Day of Nov. 1814. Printed and manuscript assessment notice, 200 x 260 mm. This item may have at some time been mounted and will bear traces on the reverse of adhesive or removal of mounts. The income tax system as devised in 1803 listed 5 schedules: Schedule A (tax on income from UK land), Schedule B (tax on commercial occupation of land), Schedule C (tax on income from public securities, Schedule D (tax on trading income, income from professions and vocations, interest, overseas income and casual income) and Schedule E (tax on employment income). The tax was abolished in 1816 and had been so unpopular that the Parliament ordered all documents connected with it be destroyed.
