Title: The West Butterwick Freehold Estate. (Trent Side Warp Land) Near Doncaster, Lincolnshire. Particulars of Sale of the Exceedingly Valuable Freehold Estates situate in the Parishes of West Butterwick, Epworth and Owston.
Description: Sutton on Sea: Simons & Ingamells (auctioneers) and others, 1925. Folio. pp. 26, [1], loose addendum sheet> 5 photographs and two large coloured folding maps. Printed wrappers, Very Good. Comprising of 1113 acres, containing "12 desirable farms from 20 to 150 acres, a series of really good cottages, a blacksmith's Shop, etc." Much reduced from the sale of 1911 when 1425 acres were sold, this time the estate was sold as a single lot. A manuscript note states that it was "Sold for £33,200 to Sir Fred Hiam, Cambridge." Hiam Estates Limited was established in May 1925 and this property was presumably added to his already extensive portfolio. The firm of Frederick Hiam Ltd. currently farms over 7,000 acres.
