Description: 1880s? 4 items, 95 x 120 mm., 155 x 115 mm., 190 x 130 mm., and 100 x 150 mm. This item may have at some time been mounted and will bear traces on the reverse of adhesive or removal of mounts. Sir James Jacobs [1798 - 1895] was an English judge, Vice-Chancellor of the Court of Chancery and well known and respected in art circles, especially in his later life when he retained his caustic wit and great activity to a great age. He was acquainted with many well known artistic and literary personalities including George Cruickshank, Shelley and Charles and Mary Lamb. He rented as a holiday home, Compton Beauchamp House in Berkshire.
