Description: Coventry: J. & J. Cash, c. 1860. Envelope, 100 x 185 mm. patterned paper, bordered, decorated and lettered in gold. John and Joseph Cash founded their firm in 1846 as a ribbon making factory and later expanded into name tapes, woven clothing labels and other woven and printed cloth. The Cash family retained an interest until 1984 and the brand is now owned by a Hong Kong based company, still making identity name tapes as well as security labels for high end brands.
