Title: Positively for One Week Only. Extraordinary Novelty. Mr. Bellamy...Unrivalled Exhibition of Paragon Models...A Stupendous Model of Windsor Castle...modelling 1428 windows...
Description: c. 1848. Single advertising sheet, 275 x 220 mm. With manuscript alterations to location [From Bromsgrove to Bridgenorth.] John Bellamy, [1808 - 1893] was an extrodinary showman who found his niche in creating huge models of famous buildings and touring them around the country in specially constructed caravans. They included models of Warwick, Kenilworth, Dudley, Goodrichand Berkely Castles the Abbeys at Flaxley, Tintern, Netley and Fonthill> and Bushy Park, the home of William IV when Duke of Clarence. His tour de force was his model of Windsor Castle, first exhibited in 1846 and eventually completed in 1851 with 2128 windows. As it is here advertised with 1428 windows we can confidently date this broadside to before 1851. Further information on Bellamy and his exhibitions can be seen at the Gloucester history website.
