Title: Large Pencil Portraits of Edward Heath and Lord Carington Signed on Concorde at Mach 2.0 by Brian Trubshaw, test pilot for the first passenger supersonic aircraft.
Description: 1972. Two large original pencil portraits: Edward Heath 600 x 420 mm. Lord Peter Carington 495 x 340 mm. Each is signed by the artist Susan Ann James [?], by the sitter and the Heath portrait is signed by the test pilot for Concorde, Brian Trubshaw. Presumably signed during one of the test flights on 19th May 1972, prior to the craft entering into service for scheduled flights in 1976. I would imagine that Heath and Carington were VIP guest passengers as the current Prime Minister and Defence Secretary. The inscription reads "This portrait was signed in flight at M = 2.0 Brian Trubshaw 19th May 1972."
