Title: Reference to the Map of the Town of Yeovil, in the County of Somerset.
Description: Yeovil: Thomas Ham, 1833. 8vo. pp. [24], [29]> interleaved with blanks. Contemporary sheep, worn on the spine. A list of properties and extents of each property on a map of the town [map not present here], the blanks with occasional additions and corrections. The final blank has a list of Wm. White's lands in the Parish of Yeovil. He owned 17 properties with a total of 56 acres. A map of Yeovil was published in 1831 by lithographic means at a scale of 26 inches to one mile. It was published for the purposes of a rate assessment and surveyed by James Poole of Sherborne, Dorset. Parks and some streets named> orchards/copses indicated> some landowners named> houses and plots numbered. There is a view of Market Place in the corner. It was lithographed by G.E. Madeley of Wellington Street, Strand. A copy is held at the Somerset Heritage Centre. Although Ham does not warrant an entry in the British Book Trades Index, he is known to have been in business as a printer and bookseller in Yeovil during the 1830s. Copies are held in libraries in the South West of England but no copies are listed in any of the copyright libraries.
