Title: Cultivation of Hincknole Oates Farm [Hinchnole Farm, Netherbury] on Mr. Ackerman's Entry. [Dorset]
Description: 1847. Small folio. 440 x 330 mm. Six field plans for the estate showing field names and extent, position of gates and boundaries, crops and crop rotation. In addition there are 19 pencil drawings of the farmhouse and its outbuildings [some identified in pencil, others identifiable by function], the one of the house full page, most of the rest half page drawings. An extremely unusual volume of plans seemingly prepared to assist the new owner, tenant or farm manager in the management of the estate and in effect forms a catalogue of the property showing all the farm buildings and a series of plans identifying current crops and rotations, with one plan seemingly showing boundaries with a maintenance schedule for the boundaries themselves [walls or hedges], or for the ditches and dykes. The nicely executed drawings of the buildings likely form a complete record of the farm buildings including the bailiff's house, coach house, stables, rick yard, etc. Contemporary sheep backed marbled boards, worn on the spine but sound.
