Fraying at the heel of the spine, small deep scratch to rear board, small chips to edge of free endpapers, plates crisp and clean with only a hint of darkening at the extremities and not affecting images, thus overall still about very good. ¶ The Netherlandish painter Gerard David was born in Oudewater, but spent nearly all his life in Bugge. His work was strongly influenced by Jan Van Eyck
