Series of articles and letters debating the issue of densities and urbanity in the New Towns, inspired by JM Richards' article "The Failure of the New Towns" in the AR of July 1953. Richards and his supporters argued that the low density development of the New Towns was inherently flawed when compared to successful densely packed traditional towns - the designers and builders of the New Towns disagreed. Also long study of modern architecture in both pre- and post-war Germany.
