Owner's name on front of both volumes, very good thus. The Community Land Act was the third attempt by a Labour government to gain greater control over land for development, and (along with the associated Community Land Tax Act 1976) to capture some of the value for the public purse. As with the previous two attempts in the 1940s and the 1960s these efforts ended in failure, with the Act heavily criticised from all sides and repealed soon after the change of government in 1979.
