More than fifty scholarly contributions in English, French, German, and Russian including from the author, Pentti Aalto, Nikolaj Baskakov, Chen Ching-lung, Gunnar Jarring, John R. Krueger, Nicholas Poppe, William Samolin, Henry Serruys, Talat Tekin, et al. Tall 8vo/24cm. Printed green wrappers, light rubbing, presentation inscription on ffep, otherwise internally fine. The signed hand-written inscription reads, "L. Carrington Goodrich/640 West 238th St./Bronx, N.Y. 10463/given to/William Samolin/Christmas 1983". Goodrich (1894- ) was Emeritus Professor of Chinese History at Columbia University. William Samolin (1911- ) was a Central Asian specialist at the University of Hartford. Decsy is a specialist on Uralic languages more recently with the Department of Eurasian Studies at Indiana University. Karl H. Menges (1908-1999) was one of the most prominent turcologists of the twentieth century and taught at both Columbia and Vienna Universities. The volume seems to be rather scarce.
