A former physician at the Mayo clinic, Dr. Alexander became disenchanted with the limits of modern medicine and traveled around the world in search of healing techniques from other cultures. Around 1938 Dr. Alexander travelled to India and on to Tibet, where he lived and studied with Tibetan lamas, Buddhist monks, Hopi Indians, North African medicine men, and West Indies sorcerers."
