Description: San Francisco, CA: Family Dog / Avalon Ballroom, 1968. 1st Edition; 1st Printing. Handbill. This is an 8 1/2" by 11" handbill / broadside for the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour (Movie) - a schedule of planned viewings in San Francisco, CA. In November 1968. The schedule includes The Straight Theatre, The Palace Theatre, Avalon Ballroom, and back to the Palace Theatre, then back to the Avalon. The handbill is two toned - brown lettering on off white/ cream paper. It replicates the Western Union telegram - the Beatles sent to Chet Helms when they found out Family Dog's permit to hold dances at the Avalon Ballroom had been revoked. The rock group shipped a print of their film: The Magical Mystery Tour, to be shown over the weekend as a benefit for Family Dog. The film was shown only over the weekend of the 22 through the 24th and then had to be shipped back to London that Monday. (info provided by Meet the Beatles for Real website) This copy of the handbill is in Very Good condition. There are triangular tape marks to the top corners and the left bottom corner. There is one tiny tear to the top right just underneath the corner. There is a bit of finger wear to the paper, mostly at the edges. The reverse of the handbill is blank, with the exception of a very small spot of discoloration.. Very Good .
