The text pages are mostly clean and bright, though there are spots of foxing on occasional pages. The dust jacket has edge wear, nicking and several edge tears along with a few small to smallish edge chips. Both the spine and flap joints show moderate rubbing. The dust jacket has toning and some spots of foxing due to the acid content of the paper. And for all those who say - ah, just another Mother Goose book - what's so special about this one? Well, the compiler, William Rose Benet says it best himself: "Why should I buy this particular edition of Mother Goose? Why not any other? There you embarrass me a little - for I am responsible for the culling of its contents. Yet I intend to be quite brazen and to say , 'Because I have looking through many collections to bring this one together; because I have always believed in the essential poetry in the Mother Goose Rhymes - nor am I by any means the only practitioner of verse who has thought so - and believe that I have managed to gather together the best, the finest offspring of the maternal fowl.'
