The text pages are clean and bright. The dust jacket has several small edge nicks and tears along with several small to smallish edge chips missing. The dust jacket includes the correct points for a first edition according to Baumgarten (Green cloth binding, Harper & Brothers imprint, dated 1956, with a dust jacket that includes a $2.50 price on the front flap). There is some beginning toning / foxing to the dust jacket, mostly to the front flap. "When her father decided that Anna Lavinia's horizon needed broadening, he hit on the simple plan of tearing down part of the garden wall to give her a new point of view. Squarely in the middle of her new viewpoint rose De Pond Hill, and on a lavender blue day Anna Lavinia set out to explore it.
