"When her father decided that Anna Lavinia's horizon needed broadening, he hit on the simple plan of tearing down part of the garden wall to give her a new point of view. Squarely in the middle of her new viewpoint rose De Pond Hill, and on a lavender blue day Anna Lavinia set out to explore it. What lay on the other side at once involved her in as many mysteries as a nest of boxes, and together with a new friend, toby, she began to unravel them all in a wonderful upside down world." This book continues the adventures of Anna Lavinia, and her menagerie of animals, first met in Beyond the Pawpaw Tree. "Palmer Brown (1920–2012) was born in Chicago and attended Swarthmore and the University of Pennsylvania. He was the author and illustrator of five books for children: Something for Christmas, Beyond the Pawpaw Trees and its sequel The Silver Nutmeg, Cheerful, and Hickory—all published by The New York Review Children’s Collection.". Very Good in Very Good+ dust jacket .
