This is a small format leatherbound book (approx. 3 1/2" x 5 7/8") The book is in Very Good- condition and was issued without a dust jacket. The spine ends and corners of the book covers have some edge wear, rubbing and wear. There is a smallish tear to the bottom rear spine joint and spots of rubbing, wear and small nicks to the cover edges. The text pages are generally clean and bright. There are noticeable spots of foxing throughout the text . There is a previous owner's penciled name and doodle on the front endpaper, and a young person's penciled drawing of a person on the front pastedown page. The index / table of psalms at the rear of the book ends at the letter L, so it appears at least three pages are lacking. Included is the book of common prayer, the hymnal and the Psalms of David. "The church was organized after the American Revolution, when it became separate from the Church of England, whose clergy are required to swear allegiance to the British monarch as Supreme Governor of the Church of England. The Episcopal Church describes itself as "Protestant, yet Catholic". The Episcopal Church claims apostolic succession, tracing its bishops back to the apostles via holy orders. The Book of Common Prayer, a collection of traditional rites, blessings, liturgies, and prayers used throughout the Anglican Communion, is central to Episcopal worship." (from Wikipedia).
