UNITED STATES ARMY - Correct Use of Gas Mask Equipment

Title: Correct Use of Gas Mask Equipment
Description: Washington D. C.: United States Army, 1917. Other. This is a small folded sheet which make up an instructional booklet for using a gas mask during World War I. The booklet includes a string on a gromet for quick retrieval of instructions, and the interior area includes replacement plasters (3) and a data area for noting usage. Also included is a small heavy paper envelope to keep the instructions safe. The outer envelope has ground-in dirt, rubbing and wear along with several spots of foxing. The interior booklet is mostly clean and bright, with one foredge rubbed and worn. "Gas masks used in World War One were made as a result of poison gas attacks that took the Allies in the trenches on the Western Front by surprise. Early gas masks were crude as would be expected as no-one had thought that poison gas would ever be used in warfare as the mere thought seemed too shocking.". Very Good .
