C. R. GIBSON & COMPANY - The Bride's Own Book

Title: The Bride's Own Book
Description: New York: C. R. Gibson Company, 0. Hardcover. Illustrated by C. R. Gibson. Color Illustrations; This is a bridal remembrance book from the C. R. Gibson Company. The book is undated, but the bridal information is dated Oct. 20th, 1934. The book is in Very Good+ to Near Fine - condition and has a Good only glassine wrapper. This book was a gift from the Rev. and Mrs. M. Grigsby to Irma Seeber. Most of the pages are still blank, however, the marriage certification page and two very filled guest pages are filled. Laid in are two congratulatory telegrams from the Western Union telegram Company (using their Wedding Greeting paper). Irma Seeber married Harold A. Waltz (both of Detroit, Michigan) and married by the Rev. Maurice Grigsby at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Detroit, Michigan. The glassine dust jacket has been well handled, with tears, nicks, and several large chips / portions missing. The illustrations throughout are wonderfully imagined by (M ?) Farnini. "After prospering separately for over thirty years, the John Gibson Company and the Gibson Art Company merged into one, forming C.R. Gibson & Company under the leadership of John Gibson’s nephew, Charles Gibson. A young innovator and apprentice to the family business, Charles had previously developed wedding and baby books from the elaborate wedding and baptismal certificates of the day. These fresh formats were transferred to the new company, increasing C.R. Gibson’s presence in the industry and firmly established it as an industry leader.". Very Good+ in Good dust jacket .
