In stiff original boards size 48 by 35 cm. and in a half leather binding with raised bands to the spine and a gold stamped title to front and spine. Contains 89 maps in colour many of them double-page and all with no text to the reverse. Includes a 103-page index. What gives this late Victorian atlas its particular appeal is its range of maps of North America. Whilst there are 20 maps of Europe 11 of Asia 4 of Africa and 5 of Australasia there are 34 of North America and many of these are of individual or neighbouring pairs of states. All maps VG some foxing to endpapers and wear to head and foot of spine and rubbing to the raised bands but overall in Good to VG condition. Images available.
