In stiff marbled boards with faux leather spines and corners (a later binding; both volumes are identically bound). Volume I: 36 double -page maps by Debuissons and Chartier size 47 by 31 cm. each in full colour and most with one or more fascinating vignettes of local scenes produce and peoples. No text to reverse but each map is accompanied by two pages of text with information on history geography peoples industry and agriculture population etc. Volume II contains 105 maps by Vuillemin some double-page comprising maps of the departments of France each with several vignettes of local scenes and famous inhabitants plus a series of maps of the French overseas possessions and two of Paris. The maps of the colonies include splendid double-page maps of Algeria Constantine and Oran. Some of the map titles and pages of text in Vol. I have been cropped at the top outside the borders of the map but otherwise both are in Good to VG condition. Images available.
