Front board has a gold-stamped design and title. 264 pages plus a 6-page introduction and 8 pages of publisher's advertising. Topics that are covered include pregnancy menstruation reproduction childbirth and breast-feeding and the style is that of a factual text though some of the attitudes of the period are obvious. Also includes two hand-written inserts; a series of instructions for a pregnant woman and a short note dated 1926 with treatment and advice for period problems. Owner's signature in ink dated 1877 to front endpaper. Some scuffing to spine of book and a one-inch tear to the side of the spine but binding and contents otherwise Good condition. Image available.
