Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Gilt-stamped red leather over boards with previous owner's name and position (Isaac W. Crissy, Com'r 1st Ward) on front board, 108 pages, plus several lined pages with pencil notes. Some points of interest include: information on a "Colored School Committee", and that "no applications of candidates from Colored Schools, for admission to the High School, shall be entertained by the committee.", includes lists of text books used in the schools, teachers and principal names, as well as students that made the grades to apply for high school, and apparently, every school day began with reading of scripture (p. 43). Light wear to extremities, pencil gift inscription on front free end paper, small newspaper clipping attached to one of the pages, has toned the opposing page.
