Brown leather over boards with gilt-stamped red spine label; bound with "Laws for Regulating and Governing the Militia of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts" which is dated 1803; at the very end are four pages discussing a new Massachusetts Militia Law, dated 1806; pp. [viii], 73, 48, [4]; title page calls for 9 plates, however the Explanation of Plates lists only 8, and this book contains only 7 (lacks plate VIII). Covers worn along extremities, scattered staining/foxing, previous owner's pen & ink drawings as well as ink and graphite notes appear throughout, lacks plate VIII and 1/3 of plate II, plates have creases and short edge tears.
