Description: [London], Public Records Commission, 1814. [xv] 256, 48p. five engraved plates, uncut deckle edges, large folio format. In half-leather with plain boards (one-inch chip at head of spine, corners bumped), gilt spine lettering. Edited by Thomas Thomson. First appearance in print of the earliest documents of the Register of the Great Seal of Scotland, with speical type cut for the text of these early Scottish charters. Includes the 48-page index. Very scarce copy. The engraved facsimiles are: Plate 1, Carta Edward de Brus. Plate 2, Carta libertatis concessa Wilhelmo filio Johannis. Plate 3, Carta comitis de Carryk. Plate 4, Carta confirmacionis de castro et villa de Dalketh et aliis terris diversis. Plate 5, Officium camerarii pro Johanne Senescalli domino de Buchane. The project was then badly delayed and only reivsed between 1882 and 1914, in a reduced octavo-format printed version of eleven volumes. .
