Frédéric O'Brady was born on December 11, 1903 in Budapest, Hungary as Frigyes Ábel and died on February 23, 2003 in Rochester, New York, USA. He is best defined as a French actor but also as a composer, a novelist, a polyglot, or a world-famous puppet master. In his long life he acted as a musical director to a team of Russian dwarfs, dubbed Peter Lorre's voice in French films, sold locomotives in Switzerland, fought against the Germans as a volunteer with the Foreign Legion, was imprisoned by Vichy for abetting British agents in Marseilles, became private secretary to the post-war Minister of the Interior, and at the age of 54 eloped with the star of the Folies Bergere.
