Title: Counsell's Opinion (Signed Copy)
Description: London, Barrie and Rockliff. 1963, First Edition. Hard Cover, 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. SIGNED BY AUTHOR with ' For John with best wishes' and 'Jet Set' October 1979. A near Fine unmarked copy ( Fine apart from a light stain to front board) with Very Good+ dustjacket which is not price clipped. 216 pages. In the theatre John Counsell's name is famous, but his story is by no means confined to that world. 'By a set of curious chances' (to quote Ko-Ko) he has more than once found himself at the very centre of international affairs. As a young man in Belgrade he became involved in the British Government's handling of Mussolini, while during the war, and almost by accident, he be-came responsible for writing General Eisenhower's dispatches and even for drafting the Instrument of German surrender. But the focus of his life has always been the Theatre Royal, Windsor. How he begged and borrowed capital and lived on the edge of financial disaster to rescue it, and then built up his company to its present outstanding position, makes a story as dramatic as any acted on stage. 15. Near Fine/Very Good. Signed by Author.
