Title: Index to Trevelyan's Life and Letters of Lord Macaulay. (Cabinet Edition 1878)
Description: London, Longmans, Green for the Index Society. 1881. Hard Cover, 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Gilt title to spine with the Index Society's gilt motif to front with black decoration on red cloth boards which have age darkening to edges and just a little wear to spine head and tail. Internally there a few spots to the margins of the first four pages, a little gentle creasing to a few pages with pages 25 to 91 unopened. viii + 91 pages. Title page shows date as 1881 but spine date shows 1879. Henry Benjamin Wheatley (1838-1917), founded the Index Society in 1877, but the Society did not last long and failed through lack of funds. Sir George Otto Trevelyan (1838-1928) was a British statesman and biographer of his maternal uncle Thomas Babington Macaulay, 1st Baron Macaulay. B2A. Very Good/No Jacket.
