Foreword by E. Joy Hodgkin (Mrs. Henry T. Hodgkin). The Fellowship of Reconciliation is, as its name must suggest, a society of men and women who see the world society, and their own place in it, in terms of the message of the New Testament. In December 1914 some 130 people met at Cambridge, under a twofold constraint. They were called of Christ to make their protest against the war, in which as Christians they could have no part. They clearly saw that Christian pacifism could never be a simple, albeit absolute, repudiation of war; it must be a positive acceptance of the way of costly fellowship. While not attempting to frame a statement which would have binding force, they expressed in five searching parameters - 'The Basis' - their common conviction. Comprises: Introductory; A Society Fit to Endure; Hazards of the Way; Objection and Acceptance; The Patience of God; 'Whithersoever'. NOT EX LIB R1. Very Good/Good.
