The book re-examines the connection between the Son of man Christology in the early Church and the use and meaning of the title in Jesus' own teaching, it is therefore both an exegetical and a theological study. An introductory chapter deals with the Jewish background of the Son of man concept, the next six chapters, forming the main body of the work, examine in detail all the Son of man sayings in the New Testament : in Mark, Luke, Matthew, 'Q', material outside the gospels, and the fourth gospel. The final chapter surveys the total picture which emerges from the discussion of the various strands of tradition. NOT EX LIB R4. Very Good/Very Good.
