A Very Good+ unmarked copy with a small line of fading to tail of spine with VG+ complete dustjacket. The author spent his youth in a remote part of the Cotswolds at a time when rural life had changed little since the Middle Ages, with ploughing done by teams of oxen or horses, dry stone walling was a living art and his father's trade was making wooden hoops. Born into a Catholic family and living in a small Catholic community, he visited a monastery and was encouraged to become a priest, but he first had to provide for his widowed mother and for his own expenses, so he returned to the Cotswolds and began to farm. In the second half of the book he describes his training for the priesthood at home and abroad, the joys and problems he encountered and his story ends with his ordination. NOT EX LIB R1.
