Eva Geiringer and her brother fled Austria to Holland with their parents and went into hiding after the Nazi deportations in 1942 but after two years in hiding they were betrayed and transported to Auschwitz. When arrested Eva was fifteen, the same age as Ane Frank, but unlike Anne she survived with her mother, who was spared the gas chamber by Dr. Mengele, however her father and brother did not survive. After rescue by the Russians they returned to Holland and subsequently Eva's mother married Otto Frank, Anne's father, who was the only member of the family to survive.
