During this time the Earl of Chester, known as the 'Black Prince' embarked on his military career and the reign of his son, King Richard II ended in 1399. Over three hundred Cheshire people are mentioned in the text and over a thousand more in the ten appendices. Any person with a Cheshire sounding surname should find an ancestor among the many names.
